General Talk / Silver and Coin dealers in the Sac-Placerville area?
« on: January 06, 2021, 09:02:35 AM »
I have a collection of silver coins, some are pretty valuable, most are coins that are "well used" and worth not much more than scrap value.
Does anyone have any experiences selling, both good and bad that you would want to share?
Looking for a dealer who will be fair, I just don't want to feel like I got ripped off.
Thanks,
Jeff

A few months ago, my Tundra  had a check engine light come on.
Did some research, and the part was $600.00
Told to a buddy of mine who is a pretty good wrench, and he hooked up his code reader, cleared the code.
It never came back on.

Don't ask me to name the part as my CRS is flaring up...  :smt003
He surmised the cause was overfilling the gas tank, overwhelming I think an evap canister???

Try clearing any codes, maybe get lucky.

Ask me how I know...

Ok, I will tell you. Going up 19th Ave in SF, what is that clunking sound every time i hit the brakes?  :smt003

Had a 24 ft car trailer behind the truck.
stopped to check it out, and all of the bolts were backed off about halfway.... could have gotten ugly...   :smt010

Profile>Modify Profile>(at the bottom of that list)Buddies/Ignore list.
Click ignore and the option pops up , add their screen name.

Now if people would just stop quoting them, I would be golden...  :smt003

Full and frozen a couple of weeks ago. Temps Close to single digits at night. Good to go
There is most likely some open water since there has been some "decent" weather.  Think I will head up on Sunday  with my 14 footer and see what is up.
7.5 lb brown and a 12 lb mac have been caught up there in the last couple of years,  they are few and far between and you  have to work for them.
Will  get back to you...

Heard back from my neighbor, tight lines...  :smt006
Quote
One of the deputies assigned to search and rescue said that Silver lake won't freeze completely but the coves near Kay's resort should be frozen, which is a popular spot for photographers. People looking to ice fish will go a bit further up hwy 88 past kirkwood to Caples lake at the Amador/Alpine county line.

It looks to be in the Amador Ranger District. I wonder if they answer during the government shutdown.
I just called, not answering because of the shutdown.

I am going to try and get ahold of my neighbor who is an an Amador Co sheriff deputy.

General Talk / Re: Folks that kayak with their dogs
« on: December 20, 2018, 11:46:06 AM »
Sound like you are starting the way I would.
Patience is key for my dogs (3).
Once they fear something it is much harder to overcome that.

I once had a dog that was so traumatized by having a head on collision with a huge horse fly while running down the hall, that whenever there was a fly in the house after that, no matter the size, he would cower under our bed and shaking like crazy until it was gone.
It was kind of funny, and I did feel bad for him, he never got over that his whole life.

Good luck, and PFD is a must even if a good swimmer.
The handles would be a great help getting him back in.
Non skid surface where they will be to get traction and not slip helps.
