Wanted To Buy / Re: Outrigger
« on: June 17, 2022, 07:31:54 PM »
That’s kinda what I have been thinking. Searching the internet I haven’t found any info. But I am going to make some calls to cck and see what’s up. $450 for just the outrigger or for the whole set up with the bars included?

I’m switching to a lighter rod and am going to mess with different weight setups. My big concern with using too much weight is not seeing or feeling the Hali’s hitting.

Sorry my braided line is tipped with 10ft of mono. I have it set up like that for rock fishing. The Hali leader line is 3-4ft mono. I wonder if I’m getting too much stretch out of all of that mono.

I am trolling unless the currents are pushing me fast enough to drift. I’m currently using a conventional tiger ugly stick. I am thinking about switching to something lighter. My leader is about 10 ft long

I have been fishing for halibut lately and was wondering if I am doing things correctly with my gear. I am using a 6’6” med heavy with 50lb braid with a 20-30lbs leader. I am using herring with a sliding two hook rig. My main question is weight. I have been using 8oz and am feeling like that is way to heavy but I do want everything staying on the bottom. What are you guys using?

A few years ago my dog ate a salmon carcass that I buried in the garden. I didn’t realize how bad it could be until I looked it up. Got him right to the vet and everything was alright. The smell in the car will never be the same though. That dog was throwing up everywhere.  :smt002

General Fishing Tips / Salt point launch recommendation
« on: March 09, 2022, 08:16:02 PM »
Every year for Memorial Day my family and friends have been camping and diving up at salt point since way before I was born 50 plus years.  This year I’m bringing up my kayak to fish from and am wondering about launch sites. Gristle cove is very close but steep an tough to get a kayak down to and timber cove is sketchy and expensive now. What do you all recommend for me. I have never launched out of ocean cove and don’t know what the price is. Looking for rock fish to feed a herd.

Any cabinet shop should be able to help you as long as they do custom work. Maybe check a high school if they have a woodworking class if those still exist.

I have an old growth redwood table that has been in my family for over a hundred years from the Santa Cruz mountains. I took it apart planed and sanded it down to restore it and found some cracking in the wood. Bow ties are defiantly a great way to go. I had to put two in the look great as accent pieces and also for stability. Redwood is so soft that they are easy to cut in. Cut the bow ties first then trace them onto the slab, rout out the traced line leaving about a 1/16” -1/8” then take your time with the chisel. It’s worth it. Epoxy I have no experience.  I used an oil and let the dents happen. Have fun

I bought some of those squid jigs. What amount of weight are you putting on these?
