This appears to be a good time and place to retire last year's avatar. This was my first and only Halibut thus far, ARW Summer 2009. Actually Ariel Sea helped me with the gaff-n-whack. So it remains a bit of a challenge with self to out-do it. I just bought the boat two weeks before. Sharky had turned me out on his scupper pro just before that. So I'd say I'd been out on a yak less than ten times by this point. Sadly another comparable hali was lost by me 15 minutes later. Now I always carry a gaff and bat. Then there's all the fish I caught before I was born  :smt001

Sorry if I'm mistaken Jordan ... but I smell a spam coming on.

* First 4 posts are "good job" posts.
* Two of them say you'll post pics shortly.  Where are they?
* Canadian IP address that has been flagged for spam before.

Come on.  Bring it on.

Sincerely sorry if I got this wrong, but I'm in one of those moods where you just don't want to piss me off

google search seems to find that's he's a real guy.  however, he's also a HABS fan so as a sharks fan I think you can boot him straight away.

Really?  How does google tell you a real guy isn't a spammer?  Did you look at how many forums he has joined recently?  Did you check his IP address against known spam IP addresses?

This evening I caught my first Halibut.  I was trolling a six inch jointed Rapala just off Del Monte Beach.  I was actually targeting Stripers (so I thought), but was quite excited to see the Hali. No record breaker but a fine first! I would be thrilled to get another one.  I put this one back because I didn’t feel like cleaning fish tonight because I have to work in the morning; not to mention the good juju that comes from releasing nice fish.
