GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 11, 2016) — Wilderness Systems today announced the exceedingly versatile Radar 115 and 135, truly unique tri-powered kayaks that can be paddled, powered by the Helix MD™ Motor Drive, or pedaled with the groundbreaking, patent-pending new Helix PD™ Pedal Drive.
“The Radar is the culmination of anything and everything a kayak angler would want or need in a fishing kayak,” said Evan Lyendecker, marketing director for Wilderness Systems. “The Radar was designed with S.M.A.R.T. Hull Technology that optimizes the boat for paddling, pedaling or motoring. Versatility is also paramount as you can choose your mode of travel and leverage fish finders simultaneously. There is nothing like it on the market today.”
The Radar’s proprietary S.M.A.R.T. Hull Technology combines stability, maneuverability, acceleration, responsiveness and tracking for optimal performance in multiple water environments and configurations. Design elements include an upswept bow for a dry ride, a defined keel line for excellent tracking, a rockered chine for responsive steering and a flat, stable platform for standing and freedom of movement in flat to rough water. A Sure to be a stand-out in the market, the Radar delivers stand-up stability without increasing the width of the hull, thanks to its S.M.A.R.T. Hull design. The boats also feature retractable rudder technology aiding in rudder longevity.
Both models feature state-of-the-art outfitting including expansive SlideTrax™ rails and a multitude of storage opportunities. Wilderness Systems’ exclusive Flex Pod system provides the versatility to deploy side-scanning or down-imaging electronics while using either of the Helix Propulsion Technologies.
Wilderness Systems’ renowned premium comfort is continued with the Radar series, which includes the award-winning patented AirPro MAX high-low seat. It can be ergonomically trimmed for paddling or pedaling positions, and can also be stowed in a vertical position to increase standing area. With its new quick adjust levers, users can slide the seat fore and aft to set leg length, essential with use of the Helix PD Pedal Drive or adjusting the trim of a fully loaded boat. The Radar 135 is also compatible with the acclaimed, patent-pending AirPro 3D seat.
The Radar features a premium, matte glass bead finish on the deck to reduce glare and is available in six colors: Desert Camo, Dusk, Mango, Midnight, Sonar, and Solar. The Radar 115 is priced at $1,349 USD, and the Radar 135 at $1,499 USD. Both will launch to retailers in January 2017.

Final weight will be out soon when the first production boats are built in the next couple weeks. It will be lighter as I was told than the original thoughts. They wanted to guess high and not disappoint by it coming out heavier. As far as width, the 115 moves very well with easy effort to keep it going 3+ mph constant. I am guessing, but know speed pretty well, and I believe it topped out around 5mph. The 135 will be faster due to the length, but I only paddled that one, and it turns very well for being wide.

The over all widths are not waterline widths.

The Radar 115 kayak alone will be $1349. The drive, which includes the rudder system will be $1100, for a total of $2449. It fits right in line with the pricing on all the new or old systems that are or will be available soon. This kayak paddle swell too. That is the reason for the pricing and selling of it this way. Some people will only buy the kayak to paddle for sure.

There is also the Perception Pilot 120 available end of year too. It will be at $1799 last I heard including pedal drive and rudder.

The drive is sealed for salt water use.

I hear another one coming out is not designed for salt use. That company is designing a seperate drive to use in the salt. I have not confirmed this, but heard it from a trusted source.

Wilderness does not sell direct. You need to go to a local shop that carries the brand and talk with them. Try Adventure Sports on El Camino. They will be the best price around. Tell them you are NCKA and military. Also tell them that I sent you. They will hook you up for sure.

You could also try CCK, but not sure if they discount much or not.

Ok rob, I'm ready to go pick up a RADAR 135.  Is there someone specific I should talk to at adventure kayak that will give me a good deal? I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks.
