Recipes / fried fish with chili basil sauce
« on: June 23, 2015, 05:55:47 PM »
My mom came back from a cooking class in Thailand a couple years ago and shared this recipe with me.
Have an abundance of fish from the weekend fishing in Sonoma, so I made some with a nice copper I had.
one of my favorite ways to cook small to medium sized whole fish

-fry whole cleaned/scaled fish till golden brown...all I put was some salt

-in a diff skillet, sauté garlic and onions, scallions in a little oil till translucent

-add cilantro, peppers, scallions,  and basil, three tbsp. soy sauce and 3 tbsp. fish sauce and a tbsp or more of palm sugar

-watch that it does not dry up and add a little water or stock if needed

-plate fish and pour sauce over it. garnish with basil and cilantro

enjoy like we did,
tommy

thought Joel Lotilla name was familiar
saw all the posts, heard he was from the philippines,
read all the great stories, went to his facebook page,
and realized we went to high school together, he was a couple years behind me , his sister Rachel was my classmate... just sent her a message telling here how much ncka was impacted by him and how his spirit lives on! If I left half the mark he did I would be doing good!
Wow, what a smaaaall world and what a Big person!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / stumpy meadows lake
« on: January 02, 2014, 10:44:50 PM »
made it up to stumpy meadows on new years day
maiden voyage for me and the yak
did not catch anything but had a great time, I was trolling a spoon..it was glass. buddy on the shore lost a couple nightcrawlers but was also skunked
a few fish were breaking the surface and there were still
bugs on the surface... it was t shirt weather, it usually is packed
with a couple feet of snow this time of year but with this weird weather you can take advantage of the extended season.
also because of low water, most lakes up here are low and no
larger boats can launch so you are by yourself.
