I love to look at all the new fishing kayaks being offered, but most of them are just too heavy for me to load. My favorite kayak is my Prowler 13. It's a great boat, but as I get older it seems to get harder to load solo at the end of the day. I also enjoy my Mini-X. Easy to load and use on the local waters.

I've been watching and reading about the Eddyline kayaks. It's light, gets great reviews and looks good too. So, I broke down and bought one.

Took the C12 out for it's maiden voyage at Rancho Seco last Sunday. One word for the day: WINDY. The Caribbean handled well. Easier to handle in windy conditions than the Mini-X. Stayed on the water for about 2.5 hours and noticed my back, butt and legs were much more comfortable than if I had spent the same amount of time on my P13. I have a three hour butt limit on my P13. I think I'll be able to stay out a little longer on the Caribbean. Loading it back on the SUV was a breeze.

The Caribbean is at Headwaters right now. Dan offered to install the rear mounts, rocket launchers and floor pads. He also helped me select other rigging for the track system. Rod mounts, FF mount and the Mad Frog Liberator. I'll post up pics when the rigging project is complete.

No fish or blood on the kayak on the maiden voyage. Maybe next time.  :smt002

Cheers,
Al

This! Glad you'll be able to stay out a little longer, Al!

And those eddylines do look like some sweet rides.

Real kool AL.  Your assessment of the ease to paddle, track, and load are correct.  The set up is so easy and makes the eddyline so versatile.  The only downside is how are you going to get those 2-35 lb salmon on board? :smt006

Sweet looking new ride Al. I'm sure there will be plenty of fish blood on the deck soon.

I'd be happy with one 35 lb salmon on board!

AL, I'm glad to see another Eddyline on the boards, the boat is really turning a lot of heads. Thanks for letting me drill some holes in your boat. Also I forgot to talk to you about a keel strip, but its something I think everyone should do. It doesn't add much weight and it really protects the hull from scratches.
