Hello Bros,
My son has injured his knee from Wrestling his PT recommended to do biking to help the knee heals faster. Nothing fancy just enough for him to move around parks. He is novice biker (actually he doesnt know how yet :smt002) Dads faults. He is 15. Thank you

for the stated rehab purpose, stick to stationary bike. all kind of reasons why your son should not rely on bicycling open streets for rehab (live in City, no experience, theft risk, etc.)

recumbent bikes given away every week on CL.....

+1 if your son has never ridden a bike, rehab is not the time to learn how. Lots of crashing in the learning process. Stick with a stationary bike or a bike with a mag trainer attached.

I recently bought a bike for my GF and I feel very good about this suggestion.
The brand is Critical Cycles and they make a single speed called a Harper. It's awesome and under $200 Amazon prime. It comes in a big box and you need to put the wheels, pedals, and handlebars on. All very easy to do. I'm buying another for myself.

You try hit up your local recycling location sometimes ppl discard bikes there can always pick some up.

So if he's never ridden before rehab might not be the best time to start.. However if you do want to get him a bike go to a reputable or even better a recommended local bike shop. I would try to start him out on an entry level hardtail mt bike from one of the well know brands like giant or specialized. It will run probably $400-600 but it's much better than a Walmart or mail order option. Any good shop should back up your purchase and help you take care of any problems that come up. Not really an option with the department store stuff.
