I Checked the Russian River MlPA map and Russian Gulch looks clear of the area as long as I fish north.  Anyone been out there or had great luck fishing that spot ?

This could be a personal hygiene question. I haven't smelled any Russian Gulches lately.

It usually has a nasty shore break. Make sure to film your launch and landing!

Its a haul in and tough for a long kayak due to hair pin turns, but on a flat day its not a tough launch.  I have only launched out of there once but it is definitely fishy.  If you are up there might as well save yourself the hassle and launch out of Fort Ross, TC OC ect.

I have no doubt that its fishy but it seems like a major PITA to get through that dense thicket and onto the beach.

Drove up the coast and RG looked doable and closer.  Don't plan on testing my surf skills. Don't own a GoPro to lazy to do all that video stuff. Barely do picture stuff. Maybe I'll just tell stories like the ones I read from tomales. JK. I don't mind driving a few more miles north. Same coast different launch.  Thanks for the info.

Yeah the path to the beach is a bitch I'd think. Allegedly sharky so I've heard.

At least one, maybe 2 confirmed GWS attacks on divers there, long time ago tho. I've walked the trail, looked at the launch and just figured a little more driving was worth it.

Launched there five or six times ab diving. It was during the state park closure so the lot was closed. We beated and banged through the rocks of the creekbed till we hit a couple hundred yards of sand before the launch. The launch is easy on a relatively calm day. Its a steep beach so there is only one big push of water that dumps onto the beach. There are big blacks and lings but you wont find the same variety you will further up the coast.
