Title: Native Manta Ray loose hatch
Post by: jp52 on February 28, 2019, 01:33:39 PM
I purchased a Native Manta Ray Propel a few months ago and the front hatch seems awfully loose. It closes securely but you can easily wiggle it around when its closed. By comparison the hatch on my Tarpon 140 closes watertight. I have only taken it out once in a lake (just can't seem to catch a nice day when I'm off) so I don't know how much it is going to leak when waves slop over it. I had it out in the rain for the last few days and about a gallon of water seeped in which is a little concerning. So what do you Native owners think? Is this normal?

Thanks,
John

No I don't think it should be that loose. Mine is as tight as the day I purchased it.  Who did you buy it from?  I'd contact your dealer.

I'm also surprised about water getting into it from the rain. that should flow off the lip and into the cockpit.  My manta ray sat on top of my car for probably a solid two months.  the cockpit was full of water since i didn't pull the scuppers, but inside the hull was bone dry.

Thanks for the input. I bought it from CCK in Oakland so I'll give them a call. As for the rain, it was tilted at a downward angle so the water pooled at the front of the hatch. If it was level I don't think it would have leaked.
