Some photos of the Malibu Kayaks new model the X13. Says it's 13' 10" long, 29" wide and 58#'s. The new low pro gator hatch is supposed to be standard. Looking forward to larger hull/deck shots ... Pretty schweet looking yak.

I think he's in a pool at Fred Hall...he's probably gonna survive.  Best looking MK yet, hope it paddles nice.

The point on the x13 looks like it can spear a whale, don't get in front of one on a swell.

Hmmm... very nice!

That dude looks like Brent who owns the OEX stores down south.  He sells a ton of Malibu's and I know he's involved in the new design.

Are there any close-up of the deck?

Yep, I believe that's him. These were the only pics and also said it's still a prototype so will have more than what's shown. I'm interested to see what other things they add that are super kayak fishing specific, if any.

Looks Good!! Still hoping for a fishing yak that's at least 15 ft. long - 27 inches wide and weights less than 55 pounds. (almost like a cross between a Scupper Pro and a Tarpon 160 would be ideal) It's nice to see that Malibu seems to be going in that direction.....maybe.

Looking forward to demo one and see for sure :smt002

Mooch, You might have hit the nail on the head, 15' is ideal and should be the cut-off point for boats going on oceans. speed and glide are starting to matter to guys who might have to cover some distance to get out beyond a reserve or MPA looking for their second or third boat are going to be looking at performance as well as comfort and fishability.

I saw that boat at the Fred Hall Show yesterday.  Had I known it was there, I would have brought the camera for some pics.  This really looks like a sweet boat.

A couple interesting features that stuck out for me.

1.  Lots of flat surfaces... it'll offer tons of opportuntities for mounting stuff like rodholders, etc.

2.  The entire bow compartment is a sealed, separate compartment from the rest of the yak... they did this so you can store fish up there without sliming the entire interior of your yak.  There's a small 4" hatch in the bulkhead that can allow you to stash your rods up there as well with your grip and reels within the fish compartment, and the tips sticking through the hatch into the rear.  Questionable whether it's possible to do that solo with the front-hinging gator hatch, but interesting nonetheless.

3.  The hull design has a nice sharp bow with a bit more of an inswept contour up there... I see some similarity to the Marauder hull design here.

4.  Cockpit has the same square hatch, etc.... not much differen there from what I could tell.

The boat is looking pretty lean and mean with a weight capacity of something like 450#... looks like a fery good competitor for the marauder and trident.

Hang on guys.... I know Malibu's close to making your wish come true.  I just can't say much.  I'm sworn to secrecy. :smt003

Looks nice but how do you reach the front flushmounts
