I have old GoPro video where the rockfish and lings were more interested in my torpedo weight than in the shrimp flys I was using.

Since then, I've been replacing my jigs with a 4-6oz banana or torpedo sinker with an assist hook. It's a $3 solution that replaces a $8 jig and I haven't seen any difference in catch/hook up rates.

Dick lures?
Wrenches with assist hooks?

Where have you guys been all my life!?

I do like the 2 rod setup, 1 with swim and 1 with jig and just pound them with both to see what the dummy's want that day.

Have you guys seen the new squid made by chasebaits.com? They look pretty sweet
Just not both at the same time? :fishing2

Has anyone had success with butterfly or octopus jigs in less than 60 feet of water? I've only managed rockfish jigging swimbaits near the monterey bay kelp forests, but am real curious if the other jigs we bought would work in 30-60ft depth (or if we're just doing things wrong).
