Actually I moved to the Bay Area 5 years ago.  Although I fished almost daily on the coast of NC, I barely have gotten my feet wet on the West Coast...  I had a flat bottom john boat that allowed me to tool around the marshes and sounds on the coast of N Carolina, but I'm new to kayak fishing.  I'm ready to catch fish again.  I've taken some charters on the head boats out of Half Moon Bay and caught rock cod and ling cod.  I want more ling!

I also love fresh water... bass, trout, catfish.  I guess that's where I start.  I'm close to San Pablo Reservoir, so I can start there and get comfortable  fishing from the kayak.  Any advice (gear, launch spots, techniques, etc.) to get me started will be appreciated.  I'm sure I'm about to spend hours perusing these forums over the next many days...

I got a lifetime tamarac angler to get started.  If I get hooked I'll shell out the cash to get a nicer boat.  If anyone enjoys teaching newbies, I'm a fast learner and will buy you beer or two for sharing knowledge...

Beer for knowledge can work for many.  Others just love going out with fisherman who enjoy the hunt as much as they do.

Welcome to NCKA and hope you find your way out more.

Welcome to the madness!

You can find lots of lingcod from a kayak.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Thanks yall... RippinLips, I'd love to hit you up towards the end of the summer.  I'm learning to maneuver in the kayak pretty quickly.  Sticking to the lakes for now.  After reading some more posts, I'm realizing that I will probably be upgrading my boat before hitting the ocean... plus a wetsuit, marine radio, etc.  Here we go down the rabbit hole...

Welcome from a fellow new member!

Were you at SPR last Sunday?  I was taking my new yak out and dropped her while loading.  Not sure why I didn't think of it but SLIPPERY WHEN WET!

Will be out again this weekend.
