Ok, I'm jealous  :smt007 Great write up wizz and thanks for the porn. More photos of how you rigged your seat would be great if you have them?

Speed, lightweight, simplicity, sounds like the perfect 'yak to me .

I'm gonna spolde if I have to wait much longer for mine. I'm supposed to get photos of it via email next week.

ruben

Unfortunately i dont and wont be able to get any for a few weeks.

The seat is from stealth and it hooks onto the fabric loop on one side and the grabe handle on the other. I will be changing this to hard attachments.

They should add a light weight outrigger option which folds in like the AI. You will lose a little speed but the stability gain would be huge as well as gaining storage space. Salmon trolling would be the niche for the yak. Really don't need that much speed or range for rockfishing. Personally I like a more stable platform when using downriggers, sinker release and diving planes. If I had more experience in an ocean touring SIK, I probably wouldn't need an outrigger.

Interesting you say that. One of the reasons I wanted faster easier to paddle kayak was to increase the rockfishing range. Trinidad harbor to patricks point is a haul. And there are lots of good reefs at cape that are now in reach. Increase range is a good thing for all nearshore fishing IMO.

Catch a PAC butt out there you will never get it back no less land it. If you want a long range big game boat get an AI.

That's a slick kayak!
I'm interested to hear how it performs too. The rudder system is intriguing...I like that it is forward of the stern--similar to a skeg. I assume it pivots left & right, but does it fold up flat against the hull when transporting or landing on the beach?
Also interested in the fish hold. I would also prefer to store my fish inside the hull instead on the deck...but it looks like that m/b the only option here--or I'm just not seeing anywhere on the deck to store fish.
Either way, cool new ride. Thanks for the writeup & info.

Wanna bet?  :smt003 Hopefully rob will be up for some halibut adventures. Check you tube. If guys can catch and land marlin on the profisha, then pacbuts should be possible as well. I am a paddler not a peddler so AI is not an option, and Anything over 65lbs is too heavy to cartop at the end of the day. Keep in mind this is there lightest fastest fishing platform. The evolution is a tad wider, heavier and slower but I havent paddled. Should have a better idea the differences in a couple weeks.

The forward mount rudder is very nice, makes the yak more responsive. It does not fold flat, but it seems pretty tough carbon construction and at 17' the rudder is pretty far back so I dont see beach landing as an issue, could always hop off knee to waist deep and walk in.

The back deck has space to lash down fish (where I will put a pacbut :smt003), but the fish hatch is pretty big. If you look at the pic of the rear deck you can see the lashing above a cutout, which is the size of a crate, so with a couple extra hard loop mounts theres a good amount of deck space on the rear to carry a big fish. Or go old man and the sea style and lash to the side. With our water temps fish hatch should be cool as well. Could always throw a frozen jug of water in as well. The nice feature of the fish hatch is it is seperate from the main hull with its on drain so cleaning should be easy.

Oh hell yes you land and haul any fish on this kayak. To say you cant and you HAVE to have an AI is heresy. :smt003 :smt006 Paddle on Wizz!

It's a beautiful boat Wizz. Thanks for sharing the photos and your perspectives.
I was curious about a few things. Does the boat have any kind of bulkhead?
Or are you planning on inflatables?

I was also wondering if you were planning on strapping into this boat?
It looks like you would be able to roll it without too much trouble.

Again , it's beautiful and I hope you enjoy every bit of that glide.

wing paddle?

It has foam in the bow and stern for flotation. The only way to add any more would be in the fish hatch. Since the fish hatch is separate from the main hull it acts as emergency flotation as well.

I am sure with straps that this boat could be rolled, maybe for expedition style trips.  :smt004

I have the wing and it works but I am so comfortable with my flatter blade that I have a hard time giving it up. I guess I am so accustomed to whitewater that there are some changes that are difficult.

He's trolling live bait. Pretty cool way to deal with the bait.

Catching big fish seems doable on the Pro Fisha. Just saw this video posted by Kayak Fish magazine catching a huge Marlin on one.
