Nice to be able to put some new faces with names.
I have to say that driving into and out of the bay area each time for me is like a newbie doing a surf launch and landing for the first time.
It makes it much more worth it if you catch fish as opposed to getting skunked.
AOTY ceremony was like catching fish, made the launch and landing worth it.

Thanks!  Nice meeting a lot of new faces as well as seeing a lot of OG I hadn't seen in a long time. Great food and a GREAT location.  Thanks to everyone for the whole deal, and the great prizes.  My new yak looks great in the fleet.

Sean - Congrats to you and all those who competed. Sorry I couldn't stay longer or talk more but having a puppy is worse than a toddler.  :smt005

Ben - thanks for the great chili and your sons help on the man dogs and dog baby sitting. BTW, Big Sur is not always that bad as far as surf. PM me if you want to hook up on a good WX day.

Lawrence - thanks for the beer and resupply of killer flies.

Bill - thanks for the stickers.

Don - thanks for fishing Molly out of the fried chicken.  :smt044

I had a great time. Congrats to all who were in the top 10. I think dedication, experience and some strokes of luck let us all have epic days. It was real nice to meet everyone as this was my first NCKA get together. A good crossection of people having a good time. Bliss my friend, pure bliss. Putting faces to posts was the best part.

A turnout like this makes me very proud.  It's great to see people from very different backgrounds getting along so well and enjoying a common passion.  My only regret is not having more time to mingle with everyone.

Thanks to Bill.  Thanks to all of our AOTY sponsors like Hobie and John @ Windtoys for hooking us up with the goods.  Thanks to Mooch and Aquan Sports for providing a great venue.  Thanks to everyone for contributing to the potluck and helping out.

and the challenge would continue....
The  big winner.........  Sean and MVP for efforts on behalf of the sport!
 Steve
I found this gang from Joel....Joel thank you!
This was my first outing with the NCKA and yet I have been educated and comforted by you all on line for over a year now.
Often I have fished alone and on the distant edge of visability with some of you guys...and yet, when I saw one of you I always felt at ease.
I finally joined in at Bean Hollow and hope to continue and enjoy the safety and comraderie for years to come.
I will register for the AOTY this year and JOIN IN. [ and in a few months I hope to earn the right to do a little smack talking]
Sincerely, Steve

So true!

It was just like every other NCKA event...  tons of laughs, too much food, and I learn something new every time.

Special props to all the '08 AOTY winners, and super-duper props to those Leepin boys... unbelievable fish, but to do it as a father-son team deserves a special award!

Thanks to Craig for the anchor, and Russ for the lure, Hojoman for the charger, and (sorry, I'm drawing a blank on your name) for the KILLER dressed circle hooks for my knife jigs.

Thanks to ALL who participated in AOTY and all who donated time, prizes and good ol' effort to make this type of stuff Real_Fun! A gathering to commend those who drove up,down and through the NorthernHemisphere, planning an "attack" on each species, depending on where and what are "supposed" to be bitting this time of year is a pure blast!! (getting together to B/S and eat like kings&queens, with the pressure of FISHING is VERY fun) We should plan one of these once a year.....huh?,this is the one?  :smt003

the Chili, the Hotdogs(combined as one), the Ribs w/real_bread&butter, the Stew, the FriutSalad, the BaconWrappedShrimp, the "i can't remember it all" right down to the BlacktopCarnitasTacos!!

Saturday's event has left me feeling very touched. Being part of the NCKA family (not just a fishing forum) has brought many new friends and opportunity's. Thank you everyone!

This past year has allowed me to spend more quality time with my son Patrick than ever before.  Endless hours of road trips, hundreds of hours on the water, camping, and even the preparation for each outing have drawn us as close as we have ever been. Many reports referred to us a a team, but you had better believe we were competing with each other every moment.

Saturday I was presented with two pieces of NCKA member artwork. The obvious, Sean/Piscean beautiful plaque. The second was a surprise, a water color done by Ben/Guitarzan. I now have three NCKA pieces of artwork if you include my computer desktop back ground (with his permission)....Tote's "kayak" scene. I sense the start of a collection...

Again, thank everyone for another great get together!

I forgot to say thanks for everyone who made the gift bags possible...

The West Marine towel with the velcro strap is KILLER.  I used to keep a hand towel in my waders to dry my hands on that inevitably falls to my feet when I stand up.  No more!

Thank Danglin for hooking us up with the towels they're nice!
