What a crew this is turning out to be.  I will bring my free dive stuff too.  Do we need special stamps for lobsters?  I've never dove for them.

Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

It'll be good to have at least one person to dive with!  I can bring both my guns but they're pretty wimpy for down there.  Adequate for halibut, sheepshead, ect I guess but I'd be crying if a school of WSB swam by 15' away.  I have a friend who tank-dove the cortez bank and he said it was pretty deep, like 70', and the current was moving pretty fast, making it a treacherous place to dive.  I'm pretty sure at least the last day will be by an island though so that the trip home isn't so long, so we'll probably be spending some time in a more sheltered spot.

The regs say up to 10 hoop nets may be 'fished' from a single vessel, I wonder if a kayak would count in that aspect and allow us to fish 200 hoop nets to be carried (But not fished) on the islander?  If we're limited to 10 total they may become a hot commodity..  I have two...  ;)  I guess those and my headlamp are what'd be needed.  I don't think we'll need any special stamps for lobster, but we will need a measuring device.  We will need ocean enhancement stamps.

Bring yellow and green irons, also.  Bring some light irons.  If the yellowtails are on the surface or under kelp patty's you will need these.  One tip..don't let them back to their homes or think they can get back to their homes.  Button down the drags and once you get them 30 to 40 yrds away form the spot, you should be home free.  Also, if you are Yo Yo'ing  from the bottom then 2-speeds Rule.

Yellowtails are hard fighters..but once you give them no place to go they give up..like striper's up here...unlike the tuna...the tuna will never give up.

A bit of advice I can give - don't go too crazy on the irons. I spent $100 bucks on iron for the last trip and didn't use a single one. Now they are just expensive RF lures.   :smt011

All In..... anyone into  fishing before /after,  I'll have a few days on each side of this......Danglin

I will probably fish La Jolla Saturday morning with my buddy Brian who's couch I will be bumming Friday and Tuesday nights.  I am sure it will be less crowded in November then it was in July.  It will be a good tune up.

Okay, I don't see where anyone has claimed the open spot, so having just earned enough  points in the wife dept. (just recovering from 2 new kayaks) I'm in! I will send a check in the morning mail.

As of early this morning the check was dropped off at the post office. I also included a second deposit check in case someone else needs to drop out and another spot opens. Mr. SlowMo, my fishing partner and #1 son has determined that he has cut enough lumber and pounded enough nails to afford the trip should a spot become available. If everyone stays in the check can just be deposit towards my total for the trip - no problem. I probably will drive my van down and can haul 4 kayaks and 4 yakmasters. Something to work out when we get closer the adventure.
