Good to see you got your gear back, although it sucks to have the damage.  :smt013 This is a good lesson learned about locking up our yaks. I now own a cable and lock.  :smt003

I think you have to put some kind of bling cap on the bow of your boat now. Like a big gold cap to cover the scrape!

GREAT news, Nate! I like Bill's suggestion for the "battle scar," too!

Right on... Nate.  I bet you're glad that cool T160 came through unscathed.  That P13 damage should be no big deal considering the location of the scrape.  Bummer about the car damage and missing stereo, but who cares about that anyways. :smt005

We actually had things like that for the fiberglass SIKs in Alaska. They were to prevent gelcoat chips from ice near the glaciers. My old Prijon Yukon tour was plastic but it came with a cool heavy duty armor piece riveted on the bow. It might look neat on an SOT...

Good to hear you got your stuff back, more or less... In a perfect world, the bums that stole your car and boosted your stereo and fishfinder will have traded those electronics for some bad heroin to OD on and die a painful death.  I'm very pro-drug when the drugs are used by junkies to OD...

Well at least the good guy didn't get totally screwed. Glad you got your yaks back.
Go to the thrift store and buy an old iron for a buck. It will smooth out the scrape.
Just make quick strokes with the iron over the frayed portions with extremely light pressure. Set the iron on low and move it quickly, never pausing on one spot.
It will smooth out the rough spots and from there you can tell a lot easier if there needs any patch work done.

I wonder what size trebble one would use to trol those P.O.S. thief's in shark waters?  Rigging them wouldn't be a problem!  I'm so glad you were able to get your kayaks and most of your gear back.
OK gotta ask what cable / lock saved your kayaks?

Good to hear, Nate. I'm sure glad I have the same lock. Nate showed me his lock and told me where to find it. I bought one a few weeks later.

You can find them at ACE hardware. I think they are made by Master Locks, it's called Phyton. It retails for about 25 bucks plus tax. A great investment.

Yup, its called a "python", made by MasterLock.  I found out about them on an older thread here.  All the info Pat provided is right on.
