First off let me introduce myself, my name is Jeff (obvious) Ive been a kayaking fisherman now for about 6 months and I am glad I sold my aluminum boat to buy my wife and I a pair of kayaks. I do a lot of delta fishing, mainly Mildred Island area. I go about 3-4 times a week after work since it is on my way home. I know this area quite well and  looking for people to fish with. I want to try new lakes and maybe someday some river fishing. I am glad I found this site. I have been a member on Fishsniffer forums for a while and was pointed this direction for trying to find some fishing buddies.

Welcome to the forum Jeff. I've read many of your Mildred Is. posts on the sniffer.
I live near Elk Grove, work in Stockton and enjoy fishing the delta.

Enjoy....

Modesto!?  I go there so often.  In fact, I have to get some water samples from the Delta (around Tracy area) tomorrow too, but can't fish tho...  What kinda fish you mainly fish down there?  I would like to yak fish around there too, so I'll let you know next time I go down there!

No I haven't been out there yet. My boss fishes his kayak out of there a lot. That is one of my next targets pretty soon.

I started out fishing Mildred in my Aluminum targeting stripers. But now that I found it is a great largemouth factory, Ive been chasing them. When the stripers start coming back through late Sept I will be back after those again.

Ill show some of my Mildred Island pics

Here is where I launch and usually fish

And my 3 keepers I caught one October afternoon all withing 30 min. Well two of the three, I ran out of film. They went 19" - 22" - 24/1/2" (in my aluminum boat)

I am actually going back out after work. I should get there at about 3:34-4 and going to fish for about 3 hours. The wind sucks but the fishing is still good.  I will be back out at sunrise Saturday morning if anyone wants to join me. Ill be back tonight with reports and pics.

Oh and if anyone can swing by look for this truck

Hard to miss, I will be in my wifes red yak, since I let my father in law borrow mine for a few days.

Welcome aboard Jeff

Another newbie justyakit mentioned 8 mile road in my opinion that is one of two top spots for Delta bass. Many bassmaster tournaments have been won from that area. I am talking about Whites slough which is just north of 8 mile rd. and Disappointment slough which is south of 8 mile rd. easily doable with a kayak. King Island resort is a marina located on Honker cut and 8 mile rd. good launch ramp. I highly recommend fishing this area. Good luck
