Finished early nuf too bike to the lake, and bring just a fly rod for bass n bluegills w/lures. Hot, hot, hot weather, no real hits but lots of interest. Went slow and small, only one good hit, and got it, lots of babies, a very cool ( hot ) lake.
Just starting out with this fly thing and am loving it! The rf in the paddies are a blast!!! Need to get a video next time...

hey guitarzan-

have you ridden down to kent lake and tried that same rig?  you can park at alpine dam, then coast downhill...might be suprised at the fishing there....   :smt002

There's a bunch of guys that try to get all three bass species in a day up here-- Smallies, LMB, striper...makes for some travelling but fun to try

You are right on about the RF in the kelp. Anything white with a lot of action in the water nails 'em. Just be careful when casting in the win. Can REALLY hurt if you smack yourself in the back of the head.

Steve,
never heard of striper in the Marin lakes. Have you witnessed this? Also, I don't think you can drive to Alpine dam this time of year. Don't they close it at the Meadow Club for fire season?

no stripers in the lakes. here's the test:
Stripers from one of the local stripers haunts in the bay
then LMB and SMB from a marin lake
all on same day.

(extra special bonus points if you catch them all on the same lure)

I've managed a two-fer, but never the tri-fecta... Striper and smallie.

Another trifecta I've managed to fail at, but wanted to get:
Striper
Halibut
Salmon
All from yak in same day

They do close the road to alpine occassionally, based on the bike traffic i'd say its still open (but what do i know).
