Tired like the rest of the crew, but for a teaser, two of the guys finished business. Overall a great trip and an awesome boat, despite the slow action.

I am dealing with the catch-up at work, I will try to post a detailed report with pics tonight sometime. Jim showed me how it is done on the calico's and thanks to him I landed a nice 7lb'er! Thanks again Jim, that was a blast!

Great crew on the trip, awesome folks all around. It is a different kayak fishing world down there...

Had a great time with a great group of friends hanging around San Diego and fishing La Jolla and San Clemente Island.  The crew of the Islander was phenomenal.  They worked hard and prepared some INCREDIBLE meals.  We all just wished we could have been at the island a week earlier when the YT bite was off the hook.  Over a hundred YT were caught on one boat on Memorial Day.  The good news is that Andy "kicknbass" and Joel "mooch" finished buisiness with the only two YT's caught.  Andy had the hot stick and caught a yellow and nice halibut.  WTG guys.... I hope someone captured those pics.

On Saturday we fished La Jolla.  What and awesome place.  We had porpoises swimming along side as we paddled out and bait boils were errupting everywhere.  We easily filled our bait tubes with spanish macks and greenbacks.  I thought it was ironic that the first fish I caught was a legal 25" ling, so I quickly released it after the pic.  Sunday morning... Frank, Freddie, and I went back again.  I saw Frank hook into and get broken off by something big that towed him.  It was very likely a WSB or yellow.  While Frank was tying on a new leader, I moved into the same area near the edge of the kelp and hooked into my first WSB (15lbs/37inches).  Although that was much smaller than average, it still fought damn hard and wrapped me up in the kelp.

Back at the beach I bumped into Chris "RazorBack" and his buddy from the BWE board.  Chris had a very nice 23lb yellow and his buddy had a more typical 33lb WSB.  I can only imagine how hard those fought.

I am glad you all liked them.
I set mine on the couch when I got home and took a nap. Woke up to it being shredded by our new dog.

Great trip...more when I am less fried.

Great boat and crew, incredible food, can't say enough about the operation. Fishing was so-so...but thats fishing.  NCKA posse was great as always.  Thanks for the super cool hats Jim.

If I book it again, and I plan on it, I would like to be out there for a day or two longer to increase the odds of being there at the right time, and to improve the driving to fishing time ratio.  Like to get feedback on that idea.

Time to wash a bunch of gear and take a nap!
