well, i see the swell is going up for the weekend and thought i would give diving point reyes a try. does anyone know how i can access the lower portion of point reyes here, seems like the area is a little more protected and may be ok:

As in almost all cases, questions like this can be answered using google or Yahoo! maps, in concert with the California Coastal Records project.

Search for "Drakes Beach Road, CA" in maps.google.com   This will get you exactly where you need to be. However, using the hybrid view, and panning and zooming would reveal the existence of a road and parking lot at this location.

I'm not sure what the access situation is but there is an old fishing dock on the south side of the point that used to buy fish from commercial boats. I don't know if you can get down the road but you might be able to wheel a kayak. Otherwise you have to paddle a couple of miles from Lemon Tour Beach or Drakes Beach.
