Your spot is just upstream from 'Log Hole'. Log hole is next to the Campus Commons Golf Course; that is if it is still there. I grew up there and that area changes every time I go back. We used to have to walk through the golf course to get to it. Nice riffle dropping into a deep hole.
All kinds fo fish would stack up there depending on the run. There was an enormous fallen tree on the bank where this spot was, thus the name 'Log Hole'.
Your spot is easily accessible from the Howe Ave launch. There is only one spot just below the launch where the current might  give some people a little trouble. It isn't really that bad if you hug the shore. You can always just walk the shoreline and pull your yak through the water if you really had to with no probs at all.

I was at the Sunrise Area yesterday afternoon and saw a bunch of them . .did not catch any, tho :(.  Tried Krocs and Kastmasters.  Next time I'll make sure I have a #5 mepps in the box.  Thanks.

Fishing is cool

Demany and I went out from Sailors Bar down to Rossmor yesterday.  A big skunk!   they were rolling everywhere.   i was trying jiggin some gibbs minnows, to no avail.   I guess the mepps #5 is the ticket.   There must have been a hundred people fishin that stretch,  and not one I saw had any luck.  :smt012

just have to try again in the next few days.

Went out this morning to battle with the boats at the walking bridge behind sac state.  I saw 3 nice size salmon get caught on kwikfish being trolled, but no luck for me or my buddy, and we even had the #5 Meps. I'm blaming that on the fact that we were getting harassed by the local beaver population for most the day. :smt003 Everthing I saw caught was before 1000, after that they were rolling, but seemed like no one could get a bite. Current wasn't bad at all, gets a little swift on the paddle back up right underneath the bridge @ Howe, but nothing I would complain about.  Probably going to head out again next weekend and try my luck....
