A friend invited me on a trip out of Santa Cruz and since he was paying I couldn't resist.   Boat worked with the fleet in front of the powerplant and later moved south (fog rolled in so I couldn't get any landmarks)  Fishing was SLOW!!! Mooched all day for one decent hit, a sand dab and a freakin cormorant(<@75 pulls).  Boat only landed 6 fish, farmed a couple and lost about 4 to the furbags.  The deckhand told us that earlier in the week the bait was concentrated in one area and the fishing was good, then thursday night a seiner moved in and scooped most of the bait and split up the rest. Fish were scattered but still in the area.  Seen a few nets flying for the trollers.  If you plan on going trolling is the ticket.  Weather was nice in the AM but kicked to about 20 knot winds in the afternoon.........got ugly very quick.

Moral of the story, fish within kayak range but scattered and sketchy weather.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker
