Good work with the trash, Kraken. From a quick interweb search it looks like that's a '60's era Pepsi can.

The sons of the SanJoaquin managed to break our own flip/flop record.
It took 2 day trips totaling 20 hours from Lost Lake to hwy 99.
We would have had a even higher total but I lost a bag in a bit of challenging water.

Its going to be tough to beat, even with losing a bag, our new record is 57.

the rest of the story is logged here. its not as tragic

Terry's pics really tell the story. We totally got after it this trip. We even brought a mask and did some diving for deeper "treasure." Another successful river trip with equal parts, adventure, cleaning and some good fishing. Actually there were some sharp turns towards the end of the trip that were a little too adventurous for me in my T15. I've got to get a smaller boat.

I scored some good stuff Saturday at the Great American River Clean Up Day.  Not only was I blessed with a full kayak of refuse (shore picking and diving), I was gifted a nice diving shad lure from the river that somebody lost and a free participants t-shirt.  It was nice to do something with the kayak besides fish.

Strong work guys!

Steve looks like you had a nice load. Glad you were rewarded with the shad lure.

Sledge that last pic is a beauty, thanks for sharing.

Went on another SJR trip on 10-10-11 and picked up a good load. I finally trashed my camera and my disposable was full as well, so I didn't get any "on the water" shots. Towards the end of the trip I came up on a buck may be 15' from me on the bank and it would have been a phenomenal shot. Oh well, may be next time he will show up again. I did okay with a number of trout chasers to the boat and I landed 3 in the 13-15" range. I also added a 20" pikeminnow for the hell of it. I missed one fish that would have been my biggest on the river, but after about a 4 minute fight, he threw the hook.    :smt009  By the way it fought, it was either a large trout or possibly a striper. Next time I will be ready for him.

I did manage a small pile of trash. I basically just stopped in one area and filled the yak. I did find a couple canoe paddles that the river dredged up during the big flow. Too bad the wooden one was missing part of the blade. It would have been a fun project to sand, stain and varnish it to bring it back to life.

This weekend I decided to get rid of the trash and recycle it. I didn't have a great load, but not bad. Pretty much all the cans were stomped and all the plastic bottles crushed and capped (if they had caps). It came to a little over $77 and that will pay for gas for my trip to La Jolla this week. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some nice fish down there and come back with a real post for once.   :fishing1

Haven't posted in a while, but I'm still at it. Due to low water and no access at Lost Lake, I haven't been able to do my long SJR run where I do the most "cleaning." I've still managed a few solid loads though from a few of my quick trips.

I'm actually combining a few trips in this post. The first pic has all the usual suspects I normally get along with some broken fishing rods (bad day for someone) and a camo net. I found the camo net all twisted up in logs and branches. I pulled it out because the other half of it was in the river and it would make a pretty nasty snare for some critter that stepped through it and then tried to get out of it again. Anyway, yet another solid load of crap off the river.

The next pic has trash that I've accumulated over the last two weekends of fishing. It always blows me away when I find cans that are 20-30 years old. I guess each time we get big flows the riverbed turns over and releases more ancient crap. I'm still hoping to find a gold nugget one of these days!    :kick

My last pic is of some gear I've found. Nothing really great, but I can always use barrel weights.

Until next time.

Great Job !    Thanks for your efforts.     Love the "swag" photo. :smt002

Noticed golf balls too.  I was hunting Halibut off Monterey  after the cruise ships left and picked up nearly a dozen golf balls off the ocean floor...     out of sight out of mind.   Now if we could only clean up the Pacific Gyre.
Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.
