Salmon Near Shore Early?

The fishing report in the Chron this week has some encouraging news for kayakers. It claims that the warm water near our shores is creating a cold water upwelling nearer to the shore. This is good news  because it also claims bait is schooling there and that means salmon.  

The report claims this situation is setting up near Capitola. Who knows where else. So take your temp gauge and if you find some water 50 to 54 degrees look for bait and catch a salmon. The bait is more important than the temperature.

Have any interest in trying MB Kayak  or Lover's Point launch?  The winds were light this morning until 11:00 and that might be enough time to get out a ways and take a quick shot at salmon. The swell is around 7 feet.  I don't think they will be in Capitola in numbers, just yet.  Same for halibut.
