S.J. shooting hurts no one; 2 arrested
By Sandra Gonzales
Mercury News
A San Jose man escaped injury Tuesday after two men reportedly fired nine gunshots at him while he fished in Coyote Hellyer County Park.

The victim, whose name and age were not released, was fishing about 2 p.m. when two men on an embankment fired at him but missed, Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman Serg Palanov said.

Palanov said the victim did not know the gunmen and that it was unclear what sparked the shooting. The victim called park rangers as the assailants ran to a neighborhood near Yerba Buena and Tuers roads and went inside a house. Meanwhile, San Jose police and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department conducted a door-to-door search of the neighborhood. As they searched the area, the shooters ran from a house, got into a black sport-utility vehicle and drove away, Palanov said.

Authorities were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the two at gunpoint. The identities of the suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, were not released.

That sucks.

Santa Cruz has gotten to be a bit hairy in the last week or so also with three shootings.

Sunday night watching TV the wife and I heard the 'pop pop pop' of pistol fire, and woke the next morning to news that some poor guy had been shot dead not 5 blocks away from my house.

Sometimes the world just sucks.

My girl told me about it Tuesday evening. Her mothers house is three bloccs from Yerba Buena and Tuers. She couldn't get through to picc up our daughter.

She said cops blocced off most of the neighborhood looking for two or three guys who shot at a fisherman at hellyer park. Glad the fisherman wasn't hurt. Or who's ever house they ran in.

Makes ya wanna say...."Some peoples kids"...
