WOO HOO !
« on: May 31, 2006, 10:15:45 pm »
Well I got my new Cobra Marauder yesterday and I've been busy putting all of my goodies on it, fish finder and such. Im hoping to take it for a test drive this Sunday. Man alive it weighs a ton compared to my kevlar sea kayak. Anyway, I'll post a report on how the boat does after Ive tried it out. Is it July yet?  :smt026

Ive been out in my shed for about 4 hours getting my new Marauder all dialed in, Im pretty stoked. I put my fish finder in and added a bunch of eye loops for extra attachment of goodies. Im going to use leg straps and see what thats like, Im so used to being able to use more of my body than just my arms from kayaking in a closed deck I figure this will help a little. From what I can tell they werent kidding about the footwells being tight. If you have bigger feet it will be a tight squeeze. Its going to be interesting to see how they come up with a rudder for this thing. I talked to the guys at Cobra and they said it will be out next summer. I was going to put one on myself but its going to be a lot more tricky than I thought so I'll just paddle it first and see how I do. I told those guys they shouldnt be advertising it with a rudder as an option if its not actually available yet. If they change the mold which is highly unlikely Im going to be ticked off. Good grief, putting it on top of my truck should be interesting, its a LOT heavier than all of my other kayaks. Another mistake that you only make one time is losing a kayak while unloading it and having it go thru the back window of your brand new truck  :smt013
This thing has so much storage its unbelievable. I think this will end up being my camping kayak as well for my Russian River trips. ANy of you guys ever done that? Its a blast. Just dont go on the 4th of July when the river is full of drunken idiots and morons. :smt011
Im going to try for Halibut on Sunday, I think we're launching out of Santa Cruz Harbor. Ive never caught a Halibut before, man those things are big.
