It is with great sadness that I tell you of the passing of one of the great pioneers of freediving and spearfishing.  Frank Carli died on Sunday May 28th.  He was 87 years old.  He went ab diving and freedive spearfishing on Monday May 22 with my friend Steve Werlin at Horseshoe Cove in Salt Point State Park.  If any of you know that spot it is a tough hill climb to get out of there with abs, fish and your weight.  Although he was 87 Frank was in almost perfect health.   He died from a Dissecting Aortic Anyuerism Sunday morning.  Frank was an amazing guy.  He was my Hero and Mentor.  He was the one that taught me to freedive halibut at Tomales.  He taught me to make wine and so many other things related to almost every subject under the sun.  He will be missed more than words can express.  I just wanted to let you guys know.

My condolences to you and Frank's family. Sounds like Frank lived the life he wanted - a Hero and Mentor indeed!
