I haven't read up on it yet, but have heard through some forums that yes, the emergency Sonoma County closure (due to the ab/invert die-off last year) will be lifted.

Doubt I will get after abs before GS6, but am sure looking forward to popping some up there and bringing them back for the family.

:  )

Sincerely,

Jim

this post comment is correct. Unless the DFG foobars something up, Ft. Ross will not be open April 1st and will remain closed until June 1st. On June 1st first it will be once again be legal to harvest/take/catch abalone at Ft. Ross. The early season closure area for the 2012 abalone season is:
Fort Ross area bounded by the mean high tide line and a line drawn due south
true from 38°30.63’ N, 123°14.98’ W (the northern point of Fort Ross Cove) and
a line drawn due west true from 38°29.45’ N, 123°11.72’ W (Jewel Gulch, south
boundary Fort Ross State Park) abalone may only be taken during the months of
June, August, September, October and November

I might be down for a potluck, if its at a location I can launch a kayak at.
