Heading up there for super bowl and wanted to hit this lake. Any suggestions on tackle would be great. Just regular rod and reel no fly fishing. Thanks in advance,

Anthony

Anthony, there was a post by one of our members with a detailed video attached about how to fish this lake.  Having fished there twice with different results each time, I found this video very helpful---especially the part about the wooly buggers (non fly fishing also).  I can't remember who posted it but it was just about 4-5 weeks ago.  Oh and bring money---$25.00 to launch yak and get fishing permit. but here are some big girls in there.
Don't hurry, don't worry, and smell the flowers along the way!

I'm on my phone, not sure if this will work. If it doesn't, go to YouTube and type in Informative Fisherman Winter Trout One. Or look under Fishing Tips here and look for something titled something like Amador tips. Here is a link that may or may not work.

I slayed em a few weeks ago on white 3" grub, tipped with red bead, smothered in Kokanee gel, at .8 - 1.2 mph. No weights, just top lined. J-9 minnow also. Doubled once. Long shank light wire, size 1/0 pushed in from the back, put bead on line, then tie hook.

never caught a trout at amador on any hatchery formula stuff, although i tried it in the past. I fish rapalas almost exclusively there so i can cover more water.  the trout school up big time in the lake, once you find them keep in the area until they stop hitting.

That sounds great!! To bad I have no idea what your talking about. J-9 minnow? Double once? Long shank light wire? Is that something mel gibson said? 1/0 pushed in from the back? Wasn't that from training day? Put bead on line.... sounds like somobodys gonna get medieval up in here!!! Joking here of course. Thanks for the info. Will decipher the setup during the drive. :smt004
