Yes you are right. they try to savethe meniscus even if its just partial. If you have a small tear the make a round cut past the tear. Mine was in pieces form an old injury from my 20's they thought.

I had the medial meniscus totally removed from my left knee almost 20 yeras ago. Its been bone on bone all that time. I managed to secure a Black Belt in karate, finish 4 marathons and work full time all the time. It hurts now and I will never own a hobie due to the fact that that one position in recline hurts my knee like a motherfucker. Good Luck Dave. You will be fine.
