im 6'1 265. ive had a cobra fish n dive and that was just a bear to paddle. tracking was horrible. i found myself trying to correct the tracking more than fishing. what would you guys who are like me suggest for a decent rig that is easily controllable. it doesnt need to be a speed demon but in the FND i was a tank in it. thanks for any info.

Agree with Mooch, but also add Hobie Outback, Hobie Pro Angler, and Santa Cruz Kayaks, the Raptor.  :smt002

thanks al. i was looking at  a pedal kayak also because it leave my hands free to fish. but i notice in alot of the videos with the pro angler that the back end is pretty low in the water. do you think with me being a big guy that this would be an issue? thank you for the response al.

I'm a bigger guy than you  :smt005  And the Outback suits me just fine  :smt002  I also have an X-Factor which is a pretty good yak for the big guy, and used to have a Trident 15.  All of them worked fine for big guys, although the Trident is the fastest of the ones mentioned, it's a little more tippy than the other options.

+ you can always switch off between peddling and paddling  :smt002

Vin, also consider this....

*Take a class on the basics of kayaking - most Kayak Shops offer 'em

*The weight of the kayak. Believe me, you'll want a kayak that won't break you back when your loading / unloading it on your vehicle.

*Stability, IMO is really not in issue. The more you paddle and get to know the kayak the less you worry about flipping it. Just like riding a bike  :smt045

*Get a bight colored kayak for safety / visibility
* Always paddle with a group
* dress for immersion

* Check out the "safety thread"

*Be a kayaker FIRST and a fisherman SECOND  :smt045

A lot of great kayaks that a few already mention would be great and i think more than suitable for you. if you got the extra $$$, the hobie pro angler and outback could easily handle you and are super stable. The OC Big Game prowler is another great option,but one kayak that wasnt mention and that is also a very stable and great kayak is the wilderness systems ride 130. check it out.

personally I think you will be more comfortable in the Pro Angler, the seat is roomier and you sit on it not in it like the Outback.  The PA is rated for 600 lbs. and no, the PA won't sit too low in the water.  I highly recommend you demo all the yaks mentioned to see what you like
