Even at full retail they're pretty cheap and a good idea, I've been carrying a couple for the last few years now.

I just hope that those little "horn-in-a-can's" hold their air for when you need them.

I got this one from Cabelas like 5 years ago.  I like to bring it out when I know i'm going to be near PB's  :smt004  Still going strong on the first 9V I put in this sucker, never runs out of 'air' and is waterproof.  Think it was on sale when I got it, cause I don't remember spending that much on it.  Although the air horn def. sounds cheaper!

I need to get a couple of those - mostly for PB's and emergencies. However I've always wondered that if I saw the Landlord before he hit my yak, - there have been a number swim-bys reported,  or I was nearby when a friends yak got hit - if I stuck that horn in the water, would it scare away the GWS?

This is just as loud, smaller and lasts forever.

I went from not carrying much safety gear to carrying allot after an incident I had.  Call it overkill but in addition to the canned horn I have "the loudest whistle in the world" in my safety box, and another similar to the above that's on my PFD within reach of my mouth.

Another thought - would it drive away a seal trying to steal my fish? Probably turn off the bite though.

Not sure the air horn would work very well under water, haven't tried it, but something about air, bubbles sound and water, I'm thinking that, all that would happen would be alot of bubbles, and no horn sound, or at best maybe a just a squeak? :smt044

I wouldn't use these.  Since they're only a buck and wanted to see how reliable these are so I bought 4 yesterday for a test.  The results...not good.  Only 1 made a loud air horn sound.  The rest seemed to have a lot of air left, however they only made a very low pitch squeal sound.  I can definitely yell louder than that.

the funny thing is, I noticed the ones that had been played with as the packaging was damaged where you push the horn, so I avoided those, yet they still had issues.  oh well, we'll see how long this working one lasts.
