I'm planning on going crabbing (possibly fishing as well) this Saturday 01/14/2012 if the weather is good.

If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be launching from the old pier at around 7-7:30 am.

I plan on fishing just to kill time between each pull really. However, I've been seeing a couple of small Halibut in my crab traps everytime I go crabbing at HMB. Hopefully their parents are around the area.

Little clarification, please. I haven't pulled any sand dabs from my crab traps in HMB, but I've gotten several sole on a couple occasions. I typically drop my traps in less than 40 feet of water and assumed dabs don't prefer to be that shallow. Will say this though, a freshly sliced open sand sole seemed to be like crab candy. Now if I could just confidently - and correctly - identify a couple of those little buggers that were just too close in characteristics to a halibut... those lucky fish get released.

Apologies for the thread jack. If the winds stay down, I might join folks on Sunday. Best of luck to all crabbers and Niners on Saturday.

Old pier is that decrepid cannary on the way to mavericks. Also ca halibut have a arch  in the laterline right above their pectoral fin. So if you turn them over and see a arch in the clear line that divides them in half then its a butt. Good luck guys have fun!

GF has to go to work, after I get her off (trust me it is harder than it sounds, she hates working weekends), I may get down there.  Old Peir?  Not sure where that is? I launchout of the harbor.  Okay just checked on google maps, is that the peir that sticks out by itself to the North of the Harbor?

It runs north to south and there is a small parking lot right next to it, prolly 20 yards from water.
