The Amas are upside down so when he rolls it on the surf landing, he can paddle it while siting on the bottom and be super stable.

Sad story.  :smt009.  Hope the dog still has a good home.
In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

Poor guy. I have a vizsla, he would probably have done the same thing. He'll be a handful while he heals.

Sad story.

Does he ship his kayak there?  Or leave it with his sister?

He made the drive out a couple of years ago and left a boat with family. Takes off for a couple months at a time. The amas are standing and sight fishing... or naps.
He fishes his ass off and is a hell of a nice guy!

You'd have to ask him ... but I'm guess is b/c he wasn't standing or napping.
Unless you need more stability less drag is better.... right?

anyone who paddles with a harpoon on the back of his yak is OK in my book, that he saved a dog at sea is just gravy.

Heres the ending to the story

Barney's owner was 53-year-old Donna L. Chen, who was taking him for a walk. Both were struck by a vehicle belonging to 22-year-old Blake Talman. Allegedly fleeing the scene of another accident, Talman hit both Chen and Barney, along with a street sign, several wooden poles at the entrance of a church and finally a telephone pole, before coming to a stop.

After he was struck by Talman's car, Barney fled the scene and jumped into the Gulf of Mexico. Talman is facing charges of manslaughter and is currently being held on $100,000 bond.
