I'm going to Berryessa tomorrow.  I will stop at Spanish Flats for minnows about 7:00.  I'm going to launch across from Pope Canyon Rd.

so your gonna fish the North side Huh? Are u gonna launch from the opposite side of the bridge/ or from chaparral cove? i think its only like 4-6 bucks to launch from  CC! Try fishing right below and underneith the bridge where the rocky out croppings come into the water, lots of bass right there. Putah creek and right underneith that bridge is a great spot to try too..goodluck 2maro, let us kno how you do, and take many pictures!

I will try to take a half day off & be there Friday evening.   Stay there until Monday, if the weather stays good (as for now the 10 day forecast is still looking good)! :smt004
My boss (bass fisherman) might join us too!
So Which camp ground? :smt006

sorry to hear that you're sick now, Ricci... :smt009
I am thinking about camping at Chaparral Cove.  I haven't fished up there since they closed down & used be my favorite fishing spot in Berry!   You camped there after they remodeled?  How was the facilities?  I don't think I have time to go up there to check it out, so let us know!

I believe NEXT weekend is MLK weekend.  Thinking about going back to Berry then!  But, not sure yet if I can make it, since I need to do some repairs on the truck first.  Btw, we having the Salmon Slam this year???
& also, how was the Lupine Shores, Al?  How was the facilities?
can you let us know?

Naoaki

Naoaki, Chaparral Campground is a pretty decent campground. Iv been camping there for the last 2 years. When the water is high, its a fairly good campground to camp at cause your right there. Some sites have absolutely no shade, while some do. Theres no water hookups, but they have porta-poties and wash stations available. Its a big campground with many interesting spots to choose from. I always tend to camp on the very left side( closest to putah creek) when I go there. Only thing is, that side gets the east wind when its blowin and theres really no blockage from it..On another note, launching your yaks from your campsite can be a pain/chore cause its steep from the sites to the water.Im personally very interested at checking out the new resort/campgrounds at the old spanish flat resort..Looks very interesting and May be the new Spot for the Salmon Slam

well so far, its definetly looking good and fishable for next weekend and Im looking forwhttp://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/outdoors/wxdetail/15934:21?dayNum=6ard to it. Wx looks ok here too.. Im thinking either Lupine shores, campell cove, or oak shores..Capell and Oak shores are both free, and Lupine(ols steele canyon resort) is only $3.15 for cartop launching...Plus, lupine is that much closer to the main lake then campell and not as far as a drive as campell or oak shores..Lupine is actually most likely gonna be where the Salmon slam 2 will be held! But Im still open for any other spot, lets just all make a choice. I say lupine...launch time, sunrise. species targeted, Whoppers Only!  :smt003

Lupine shores was a good spot to camp and a big plus was there wasn't anyone there at all the first night we camped.  :smt003  It's an alright camp spot with port-o-poties and close to the launch.  You can tent camp in the first 7 spots (1-7) for like 22$ a night, or choose a spot closer to the water for like 32$ a night.  Not much difference in the spots except where they are located to the water.  With wheeles you can just pull your yak over to the launch pretty easy, or just drive over.   Also, no Potable water, so bring all the water you need.  Launching there your very close to Capella Cove (?) which is where most of the hot action was reported to be about 6 weeks ago.

We really liked the camp spot there!  If you take a small hike around the camp you will find downed wood you can gather.  The ranger/night guy there was very kind and brought us more firewood because he wanted to be sure we would be warm.  Also, when we left, the ranger came out to meet us, because she wanted to know who was crazy enough to tent camp in the middle of winter there  :smt044

Was going to plan on heading up Friday night, but also wanted to see Rich's show in San Mateo on Friday.  So we may just skip friday and head up saturday.
