Looks like a good accessory for UW shots.  Any idea how much it'll cost?

Yes, my friend I ride motorcycles with told me to get it before my trip to Maui. Just posted video from the trip. Glad I got it, the focus is very clear! Although it's hard to get fish to appear very big with such a wide angle lens!

How much did you pay for it?

I bought the mako flat lens for about 25 shipped.  I think there's a few of us using them.  Works fine, some vignetting under water when I didn't have the settings right but fine otherwise in the water and on land.

The Mako flat lens captures less compared to the standard lens...correct?

I have the Mako flat lens and it works great IMO...even super scratched up from shoving my head in eel holes it takes good clean footage underwater.  :smt003

I have an extra GoPro housing with the regular lens for above water footage, cuz the underwater flat one got so scratched.

Yeah but I don't know how objective that video is.  The gopro accomplishes the wider angle by using a fisheye style lens cover.  They have a nice effect for close up and centered objects but anything not directly in front of it gets distorted because the curvature of the lens.  There's also the blur factor to deal with.  The fisheye's my favorite lens to use on my dslr but probably not the best for continuous video.....unless that's the effect youre specifically looking for.

I'd say the flat lens captures enough image if you keep a range of two feet or more,  if you're gonna be closer than that you may lose some image.  BJs videos are a pretty good example of realistic use.....not filming your turtle in a tank at a range of 6 inches.

Wife hooked me up with the go pro for Christmas! Just started researching all of my underwater lens options. I'm leaning toward the BlurFix since it gives me the option of changing filters. I will be using it for spearfishing as well as scuba here and there so being able to change the filters should come in handy to keep the colors correct.
Now I just need to justify spending close to $200 on a new housing with the lens & filter when I could just pick something up for around $50.
