Myself and a buddy got on the water Tues at 2:30 to drop the traps1/4 north of launch, bait was rc left overs. Mark some structure around some deep kelp for the next morning fishing. Launch and landing was awesome, no wind. Next morning hit the water 8am and it was really flat. Checked the 2 traps for a mere 2 keepers and several shorts, rebaited with AR salmon bellies a bit deeper in 55'.
We fished just outside the kelp points in roughly and coves 35'+ for close to limits of browns, chinas, couple greenling and a big cab on homemade RC flies with squid strips. Switched over to large mack colored kroc spoons and Profish white chart glow jigs in 65'+. I caught close to a dozen lings, keeping a few between 24 - 29 inches. I had one really big take down that pulled me into the rocks and broke me off... adjusted drag, sad face.
Pulled the traps and 8-10 in each trap and a couple real fatties, thank you salmon bellies. 1 1/2 limits of some real clean bugs and back to the beach we go, about noon for a lake type landing.

Here is the deal for fishing there. If your not staying on the property you have to park at the public lot and walk the trail, about 1/2 mile. What we did is loaded up one car, brought everything down to the dirt lot near the launch (private), dropped off everything. I drove back up the the public lot and walked back down. No big deal really.

All in all it was an awesome 2 days on the water, the weather was so nice. Launching and landing was easy peezee. Plus I got to paddle my new Necky Vector 13, love it. Very fast, stable and just setup so I can keep everything in order and out of the way. Good things... Mike.

Congrat on the Fish-Crab combo Mike.  Thanks for the report from the Sea Ranch.

Nice job on the combo.  Beware of the game warden who has checked me out twice there this year and of the sea ranch security who will hassle you if they see you unloading there without a permit.

Thanks for the heads up Jacks. I have never had a problem and as for the warden, we should have no problems there. I even stopped in at the rental office in Gualalalala to see if I could get/buy a day pass but no can do. I'll just keep running a shuttle till my hand gets slapped.

I really like that area plus it's full of fish. I have a fishing buddy coming home on leave (Army) from the 25th till Jan 12th. I hope to get him on the salt at least once before it's all said and done. I might just rent one of the Sea Ranch houses again for New Years. Man I got it bad. Mike
