My dad and i went to eagle lake mon-wed with his aluminum boat for some cold weather trout fishing. We fished monday afternoon for nothing, on tueseday morning we started trolling in 8 feet of water with orange and watermelon grubs with an action disc one inch above the hook and a 12 inch leader to a slingblade dodger. About an hour into the troll my dad hooked up for a ten minute fight and then into the net, the only fish that day.
Same story on wednesday only one boated fish but this time it was mine.  The fish are definately fiesty their right know, once i got it close to the boat it kept runnin to the bottom and around the outboard but finally into the net.  The fish were 19 and 21 inches to about 3 and a half pounds.
Last year we came around the same time but it wasnt as cold, even though we caught more fish then they fought much harder thid year and were bigger.

I'm not a huge fan of eating trout but when I comes to eagle lake I cannot resist the beutiful red meat, not to mention the 3/4 cup of roe she was carryng which is now being cured to catch more trout!

I didn't want to sound like a woos at first but it looks like someone understands lol. Temp dropped below 25 at night and could not have gone higher than 45 in the day, luckily we had a headted cabin.

My gramma lives in Spaulding and we go up there a few times a year. That lake is finicky, but once you get things dialed in; its fish-on. If you can find and anchor on a ledge, and then fish small crappie jigs (turkey hair), you should be able to C/R several trout each. One day I'll figure out how to post pics from my cell to here.

Nice I was up there mid October for 3 days. Fished off Bucks Point each day but the fishing sucked. I did get a limit but it was to hot mid 70s each day. I love that lake.

Nice catch Joe!

How much were the heated cabins and who did you call to make reservations? Always wanted to fish the Eagle.

Pm me Mooch, I can get you hooked up. I also may be going up there over the X-mas break. It'l be cold, like around 5-20 degree's, but the fishing is usually good. If the ice is thick enough, we do that, otherwise we fish off the jetty.

Nice fish !, WTG guys
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Looks like snapperheads got you covered but anyway, we stayed in a cabin at the eagle lake rv park in spaulding. The cabiin we were in accomodated like seven people so it was a bit pricey but two of my dads friends came as well so divided up it's not bad I belive it was 300 a night though. They have much smaller cabins that are lot cheaper as well.

my brother-in-law and I was up there Nov 10,11 and 12 for the 2-1/2 days of fishing we hooked up 22 in all using any thing orange trolling with downriggers and fly lines about 5ft down in about 13 to 20 feet of water. It was about $105 per night for heated cabin well worth the money :smt003.
