Cho's From the Big Island + added pic of 225 marlin from yak
« on: October 18, 2011, 02:53:13 pm »
Just thought I would post some pics of friends from the Big Island.  I've really enjoyed wathcing Andy and Steve catch big fish unassisted from their kayak and can't wait to spend next summer with my mom there.  I believe Andy has won the Makahiki  Pro tournament (similar to our angler of the year) four  years in a row.  Both Andy and Steve have quite a few Hawaiian records and accomplishments.   Here's a few pics.

Setup a trip there Andy and let's fish with your friends next year.  That would be an awesome experience.  That would be better than chartering a boat.  Thanks for the awesome fish porns from Hawaii!!

No problem.  I'll be there June-August if all goes well.  My mom has a big house and is super cool.  You would have to rent a car and cook your own food but my moms down with having people stay with her.

Andy nice of you to offer your Mom's place.  Really appreciate that.  But, also I probably can get a timeshare for a week or 2 there.  I was planning to go to La Paz or Alaska but after seeing those fish porns and thinking of the Big Island, I know that's what I seriously would rather do now.  Hope your friends don't mind taking us to their fishing grounds.

Awesome pics!  What side of the island is that on?  I have an aunt and uncle and a bunch of cousins who live in Hilo.  I've yakked a little in the bay but have only fished from shore and did some spearfishing.  (years ago, with one of those pole spears).   They keep their boats over on the kona side so that's where they do most of their fishing.

Thanks for posting the epic fish porn!

These were caught south of Kona but Hilo has good fishing if you can get out.

Oh forgot the Marlin.  I think this is the biggest fish landed unassisted without mother shipping from a kayak.
