New Brighton

Is anyone going out from New Brighton next weekend?  I will be camping there.  I have been there twice before and never gotten anything except white croakers (kingfish?) and smelt.  I probably can't get down to Moss Landing because I will be in an RV and it would be hard to wake up my wife at that hour.  Are salmon ever within paddling distance of New Brighton?

I don't know about Salmon, I've heard of Halibuts off the beach. I've also paddled out to the bouy, during rock cod season and caught a few rock fish and small sharks there. Surf perch fishing might be ok there, I've seen guys working the beach too.. Take wheels, it's a little walk to the beach...

When I was a kid I saw salmon caught of the cement boat at sunset beach, but evey repot I've read say's the salmon are in deep water...

Good luck,

I've picked off a few salmon in the yellow skiffs at the mile buoy but it was mid season during a super hot bite, never heard of action that close this early.

I can pick you up saturday morning and go down to moss with you if you like. Dropping off might be a problem as the ranger station will want to charge me a day fee use to get back in. PM me if you are interested.
