Question about tracks on new models
« on: August 09, 2011, 08:24:14 pm »
Hey I'm picking up my bran spanking new t160 end of the week and I want to get a jump start on rigging, so here is my question:
With the new coolness of the side tracks does anyone have any problems mounting the fishfinder or rod holder to them. My thinking is the ff will add clutter but the rid holder is where I'm wondering how well I works being so far to the side of the center of gravity, anyway tell me your thoughts on the matter and any info on rigging this sucker would be appreciated

Thanks

Hey James.  I have a T140 with the slide trax.  I found them pretty useful front and back.  Here are a few pics.

Couldn't tell from the photo but does the platform interfere with the rudder operation?

I used the Slide Trax Dashboard for mounting my ff and rod holders.  Works out pretty well.  I don't have the risers installed but they are good for bringing the board up higher which gives more rod grip room especially if you are using long poles.  They also create a good amount of paddle clearance although I don't really have a problem at the low position either.  When I am drift fishing I do like the risers because of the clearance.  For bigger game or when I am using the downrigger having the dashboard directly on the slidetrax makes it really sturdy.  This is also the safer way to go if you are going to do some rough launches/landings where crashing is a possibility.  I also use the transducer arm.  I split the kayak with an aluminum boat so wanted flexibility to switch them when necessary.  I was going to put a transducer on each boat but they are really pricey.  I got rid of the bungees in the back and use the sliding brackets to clip my milk crate or live well using cinchable straps and clips.  I can lift the back of the kayak with either.  Bungees are not satisfactory when you roll as they will stretch and the water will grab whatever and not allow it to be uprighted easily.

So far happy with my set-ups and the Slide trax.  I haven't mounted much on either side as I fall over a lot and require easy entry.
