I'm installing a Humminbird 385ci finder in my ultra 4.7.  I plan on putting the battery in the front hatch to give me more room in the center hatch.  If anyone has any experience with this install,  tips would be appreciated. I think I have it well thought out, just want to cover all by bases.

Thanks, cheers

What are you doing about the transducer? will you be putting it in the hull like the 385ci kayak kit, or will you do the scupper hole transducer?

Nice choice on the 385ci.

That's the way I would do it. I don't have any experience with it. I don't even have a FF installed on my OK Trident 13. I will however get one soon. I'm just putting hours on only paddling getting ready for the next step which is fishing.
The Ultra is set up differently than the Trident so I don't know how you would install it. I think that there's a way your supposed to put it through the rod pod and flip it over to the other side.

Let me know how it comes out.

on the newer Trident 13, they use a battery bag which is installed in the bow of the kayak; I used this setup on both my Hobie Revo and SCK Raptor. Cost about $30; here's the link:

Here's how I installed it in my Revo:

I put my battery on the 4.7 in the storage area under the hatch.it fits nice and snug in the front part. If I have a connection issue with the battery, the last place I want it is so far forward I cant access it on the water. I doesnt take that much space up anyway.

Where did you drill your hole to route the cable into the hatch and have you had past problems with faulty connections?  I was also thinking the front hatch would be good for better weight distribution, I don't know.

Thanks,

L

Great idea!  I guess you made a regular plug end on you battery cord?  How do you plug into it?

The battery has standard automotive blade connections, made a pigtail wire and siliconed it to the battery, then i used a water tite connector between the pigtail on the battery and the ff power lead, that way i can change batterys if i have to....
