OMG the best soccer game I have ever seen. :smt003 :smt003 :smt003 The fake injury at the end of overtime  was so lame they deserved to lose. Made up for being too tired to fish today.

Yea, what a game the USA women got lucky. I am glad they did win. But I think they were beat out by the Brazil women. But thank god for the stupid fake injury that added more time for the U.S. girls to make there move. And the penalty goal save was just what they needed.

the USA women got lucky

Got lucky?  Yes, the first goal in the 2nd minute was fluky, being an own goal and all, but Buehler's "penalty" in the 66th minute that lead to her red card and Brazil's PK was terrible - a complete phantom call.  AND to order a retake after Solo saved the first was even worse.

I'll give it to Marta though because her second goal was a thing of beauty, but during the build up, one of Brazil's players was offsides and the goal should have never happened.

In summation, both of Brazil's goals should not have been.  So tell me who got lucky?

But I think they were beat out by the Brazil women.

While I'll readily admit that Brazil's players possess far superior individual or 1 v 1 skills, I don't agree that the US was "beat out" by Brazil.  Yes, prior to the penalty, Brazil seemed to control the run of play, but after the penalty, the US seemed to wake up.  I think they played better down a player and created just as many quality scoring opportunities.  I think this proves two things, A) that the US was far more physically fit, and B) they played better as a team (especially down a player).

That was definitely a game to remember - glad to have caught it right before heading out for family fun today.  Actually just finishing watching the replay on ESPN2 right now.   :smt007

Don't think it was luck at all. Mental toughness, physical conditioning, team work and defense beats individual talent most times. Look at the Miami Heat.  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 Marta is the best woman to play soccer that I have ever seen and her second goal was really something special. Brazil ran out of gas even though they were playing a man up and had to cheat to try and hold off the USA. Wambach and Solo
are on a mission and will not be denied. As they say "never underestimate the heart of a champion".

Mooch, it's being replayed right now on ESPN Classic.  They are in the 75th minute so it's just about to get good.

USA 3 France 1. The USA was tired and outplayed most of the game until Wambach started the comeback. Like I said, Wambach and Solo will not be denied.

It will be replayed today at 3pm on ESPN2 if people missed it.  Unfortunately that doesn't do much for anybody on the west coast as many people will still be working.
