Whitewater kayaking through croc and hippo infested waters in the middle of the congo!?  Lucky two of them survived.

These guys did it back in the 50's in canvas kayaks, (and yes, chased by hippos and crocs), down the entire Nile.  I don't get the "uncharted waters" thing?  Perhaps it was a different section/branch of the Nile?
