AOTY 2010 Entry Deadline

3. Fish caught prior to January 1, 2010 are ineligible. Fish caught prior to payment of entry fees are also ineligible.
11. Entries must be posted within 2 weeks of being caught and photographed. No "hoarding"  of entries.

Strictly speaking, if you look at rules 3 and 11 above, you have until 11:59 pm Jan 14th 2011 to enter an AOTY fish you caught on or before 11:59 pm Dec 31st 2010.  

However, rule #11 is intended to prevent "sand bagging" i.e. hording points so that others have the false sense of your actual points status.   With the Dec 31st catch deadline in place I can't think of any strategic advantage of holding out on your entry posting until after Jan 1st.

Please be sure to post all of your AOTY entries by 11:59 pm Jan 1st.  Thank you.

If for some reason you have a valid reason this would be difficult for you let me know and I'll take that into consideration.  

If for some reason you don't have a valid reason to post on Jan 14th other than there is nothing in the rules that say you can't. So be it.. I will however let everyone know what an ass you are for making us all wait that much longer for the official results.

No...

You have to catch the fish by 11:59 pm December 31st 2010 but you have until 11:59 pm January 1st 2011 to make your last AOTY entry.   In other words you have an extra day to enter your "Hail Mary Fish".

31st is a Friday... So what about people that are out of town/camping for the weekend?  

  Last year on New Years Eve I was "camped out" on a moonlit stretch of water until late in the evening. Had I scored trust me I would have broken more than a few speed limits getting to a computer....

I was thinking the same as Al..I am not sure of my plans yet but I might just leave on thursday after work and be gone north by then.  would it be possible to just make it a hard deadline of Monday, January 4th 11:59PM with extended exceptions for those who specifically request it?  

Also, will 2011 be the same fee and everything for those who want to get signed up for next year?

technically, if you waited until jan14 to post points on your 2010 card. You'd be S.O.L. because the AOTY 2010 should be closed down = it is not 2010 anymore!
They should run into problems trying to do that, because the new AOTY 2011 should've been up and running for two weeks and should also have fish/points already posted.

Not trying to be an antagonist this time!  I'm just thinking that someone might be somewhere without internet access!  I've tried posting AOTY pics from my phone before and it didn't work.

i'll let you know if i'm out of town brian and actually plan on posting a fish, won't put me in the top 10 anyways so it probably wont make a difference.

Actually I'm not that on it Adam. I usually don't have the new years settings in place until the second week of Jan or so.  This gives an allowance for the slackers and the 14 day rule when the new settings kick in covers you for those early Jan fish you might catch.

Looks like my resolution for 2011 is to fish more often.
