That's bad news. Sorry to hear people will be out of work. As if times aren't tough enough already.

Whether a person likes a mall or not, hard to believe one would encourage peoples jobs to "burn on".

Sad times too...

Do i think its funny people will be out of jobs? no i don't. But.. Do i support something that encourages corporations to move in and shut down local business? No i don't, an that's what a mall does. Sorry my comment stepped on toes.

Wow..

That really sucks... can even imagine the frustration the Fire Fightere felt not being able to attack the blaze, then having it go out of control....  :smt009

Very sad that lots of people are going to be with out work going in to the holiday season. I have a feeling that a lot of money is going to get thrown at this in an attempt to get most or part of the mall reopened for Black friday. The stores should have insurance against this type of loss but I will be interested in seeing which ones just take the check and decide to close up shop.

I'm no fire guy but I would have thought with such a modern building there would have been better fire surpression from the internal system?

They have a lot of work cut out for them if its anytime soon! There is a decent amount of structural damage. Here are some pictures from inside this morning.

Where I live there are many locally owned & operated non-franchise small businesses open in the malls. Jewelers, restaurants, craft stores, toy shops, you name it. Most if not all of these small businesses are incorporated just the same as the larger franchised chain stores. Small or large they both provide local jobs and alternative places to shop. It's really sad & strange to see anti-corporate statements since most every business is incorporated and each cater to a different clientele. Arson and the destruction of anyone's property isn't something to gloat over no matter what's burning be it a Macy's or a Mom & Pop. I feel bad for the owners & the employees. jim

I don't get how the fire suppression soaked everything but the fire. Prolly would have been a lot worse with out that stuff squirting water though.
