Help with housing: Santa Cruz
« on: August 11, 2010, 06:08:49 am »
I need help finding a house to rent for my son and friends in Santa Cruz.  They will be students at Cabrillo College and are having a hard time renting a place.  They are not party types and good kids.

If anyone has any leads for a house for rent, I would really appreciate it.  I have to go down again this weekend house hunting with them.  No one wants to rent to students in Santa Cruz.

Thanks,

Dave

I've been seeing a number of "for rent" signs up on the westside of SC, but not sure if they are whole houses or just rooms.

Santa Cruz just had a series of articles in the local paper about obnoxious student rentals-it may be having an effect on potential renters.

Seems like it might be easier to find something in the Aptos area, or closer to Cabrillo? I'll keep an eye open.

Yeah, those recent articles probably have had an impact for sure...

Good call on trying Soquel/Aptos area...if they are going to Cabrillo, they really don't want to have to be commuting to and from the WestSide all the time....the traffic sucks these days!!  :smt012

I live a few blocks from Cabrillo. The townhouse complex I live in has some rental, but most are owner occupied.
I will look around and see if there is something avail.

Aptos is where you should concentrate your search. There are a lot of vacant homes in the neighborhoods.

Would be perfect, walking distance, and avoid the parking hassles there.

Will Keep you posted.

How many kids Dave?

I got this response on FaceBook from my friend Julia:

"can they handle a one and a half bedroom? if so let me know"

Not really sure what a half bedroom is!!   :smt005

Let me know if you want me to give you her info.

Sincerely,

Jim

Jim,

There are 4 of them.  They're planning on bunking up, but I think they need a 2 bedroom place.  If she thinks the place can handle 4, they're desperate.......?

Thanks Jim,

Dave
