Daughter's Nantucket sleighride

Well actually it's Harwich on nearby Cape Cod where we are on vacation.  Yak fishing after dinner on the pond is a family favorite.

My son, daughter and niece get the yaks relegating my brother and me to the canoe.  Targets are CPR largemouth, smallies, white perch and pickerel.  All on ultralight gear with 4 lb test to keep it sporting.

Well I thought I started it off ok but really wanted to show that I was flying the NCKA colors on the Cape.

Then my daughter ties into something that is towing her 90 lb frame around in her 10 foot Wilderness Pungo.  We all gave her room until it settles down.  Here is a shot of her prize that was the largest kayak fish of the holiday.

Here is her non yak fish that was also the largest fish of the vacation period.  Charter skipper Bruce Peters (former local S.F. deckie) is helping to hold the fish.

The really intersting thing is that we were using butterfly jigs to pull them off the bottom from under the bait balls.  THis fish was not hooked but managed to get the jig jammed in its mouth so it was an easy release once we unwedged it.

Nice fish. Those pics bring back good memories.  I started out my fishing on Massachusetts   lakes. At night, I used to cast to shore ,under the tree branches , with  a jitterbug. Good results for bass with that.
