Russian River Temperature
« on: July 28, 2010, 06:02:05 am »
Hey all,

My wife will be doing the Barb's half Ironman this coming Saturday and the swims in the Russian River near Windsor.  Anyone know what water temp she will be looking at?

I'll be mountain biking from tasting room to tasting room with one of the other husbands

Thanks

Bring the wetsuit, as it'll be a race morning call, which really really sux.  That's pretty awesome that your wife does that HP.  70.3 is no joke.  Good luck

Yeah, she's been training hard.  Easily kick my scrawny butt.  Prepping for a full ironman in Nov 2011.

Not my thing, but she's into it

If I ever wanted to do an full IM, I'd have had to start training like 6 years ago lmao.  that's just straight insanity.

Hey i just noticed from your info that you're from La Mirada?  My folks live in La Habra now, off of Beach near Rosecrans.  My bro just bought a beach house down in HB, do you ever fish the Huntington flats for barries and sandies?

I'm real close to your parents.  I'm at La Mirada blvd & Imperial.

I work in Huntington, but most of the local time I spend on the water is at Cabrillo.

But once my skiff project is done then the flats will be on my list

Friday before last surface temp was 72 I think it has cooled a degree or so I would guess top to bottom     6'-Top 65-70 mabye a little warmer. I'll check it tomorrow? Last year on Aug. 1st it was 79. Just above Healdsburg but I think they swim at Gurneville which would be a couple of degrees warmer.

Thanks Mickfish.  We are driving up tomorrow & will check here when we get there.

It's a pretty big event.  It starts & ends in Windsor, which is where we are staying (we LOVE our Worldmark timeshare!)

well she did pretty great & I'm damn proud.  She came in 4th in the swim leg at under 30 minutes for a mile.  Did ok on the bike & a blister the size of a silver dollar slowed the run, but she did it!
