They are with you a long time, when we had to have Baily put down she was 16, I held her and cried like a baby.
I'm curious as to how your dogs temperment changed after having a litter as we plan to breed our girl Koda one day. She's a great dog and has a strong desire to hunt but some times I wish she would take a chill pill.  Koda's 6 months old in this pic

They become very calm animals and very attentive. It's a very unique transformation. Bella is right now sleeping at my feet and has already started to quiet down.
